The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) releases the following upcoming event-related traffic and transit impacts for this week from Thursday, Nov. 13 through Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.

Valencia Night Market

Thursday, Nov. 13: Valencia Night Market event will take place in the Mission District, a three-block stretch of Valencia Street between 16th and 19th streets. Event hours are from 5 to 10 p.m. For event details visit www.visitvalenciastreet.com.

The following street closures will be required from noon to 11:59 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13:

  • Valencia Street between 16th and 19th streets
  • Clarion Alley between Valencia and Mission streets
  • Sycamore Street between Valencia and Lexington streets
  • Intersections closed: Sycamore Street and Clarion Alley at Valencia Street

There will be NO impact on Muni service

Microsoft Ignite 2025

Saturday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 22: A street closure of Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets will be required for the Microsoft Ignite 2025 event beginning at midnight, Saturday, Nov. 15 and continuing through 11:59 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22 Saturday, Nov. 22.

Tuesday, Nov. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 19 Wednesday, Nov. 19: Terry A Francois Boulevard between Warriors Way and 16th Street will be closed as follows:

  • From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18
  • From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19

Tuesday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 21: Microsoft will be holding its Microsoft Ignite event at the Moscone Center. An attendance of 20,000 plus is expected at Moscone Center North, South and West. For more event details, visit https://ignite.microsoft.com.

Traffic congestion is anticipated in and around Moscone Center between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily for the duration of the closure, particularly on streets immediately east of 3rd Street. Additional congestion on 4th Street from Market Street and on Mission Street between 3rd and on 4th Streets is anticipated from early morning through the evening between Tuesday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 21. Travelers are encouraged to take public transportation or use alternate routes. There will be heavy pedestrian traffic in the area.

Saturday, Nov. 15 through Saturday, Nov. 22, Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.

There will be a signed bicycle detour for people on bikes on Howard Street to turn north at 2nd Street to Market Street. People on bikes who wish to stay on Howard Street will have the option to dismount at Howard and 3rd streets and walk their bicycle through the event along the north sidewalk.

Signage will be placed in advance of the street closures and detour routes.

Caltrans will activate electronic message signs on major freeways entering the city to notify motorists of the closures.

SFMTA Parking Control Officers and San Francisco Police Officers will be deployed at key intersections throughout the closures.

There will be no impact on Muni service.

There will be temporary taxi stands for pick up and drop off only:

  • White Zone at W Hotel, north side of Howard Street between 3rd Street and Hawthorne Street
  • White Zone at Intercontinental, north side of Howard Street at 5th Street
  • Southside of Howard Street (westbound) between 4th and 5th streets

CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES

ONGOING

ONGOING: Caltrans Work—04-1Q802 US101 (Hospital Curve)

This construction project will be upgrading drainage along US101 between Cesar Chavez Street and the interchange of US-101/I-80. Two of three traffic lanes will be closed as listed:

  • Daily closure: From 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to the next day, Monday through Friday
  • Weekend closure: From 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, Saturday and Sunday

ONGOING: Caltrans Work—04-4K1104 (19th Avenue)

The construction project will be reconstructing the parking strip on Northbound Highway 1 (19th Avenue) between Holloway Avenue and Lincoln Way. The right traffic lane will be closed for up to two blocks at a time, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday to Friday.

ONGOING: Sewer Replacement and Street Reconstruction in the Wharf Area

Now through mid-November: As part of this work, bus stops will be relocated and some bus lines will be rerouted. The work area is Powell Street between Jefferson and North Point streets, and, on North Point Street between Mason and Powell streets. The following Muni routes will be impacted by the construction work:

  • The 39 Coit: Some stops will be relocated

ONGOING: SFPUC Geary Boulevard Sewer and Water Replacements

Now until 2027: Replacement work of sewer and water lines is currently taking place along Geary Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Due to construction work at multiple locations, some of the bus stops for Muni routes 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will be temporarily relocated nearby. Riders should look for orange signage at impacted bus stops.
