40-foot Bus Service Substitutions: UPDATED June 22, 2026

Muni Service Adjustment

UPDATE: Starting Monday, June 22, the 35 Eureka and 56 Rutland routes will be provided by 30-foot buses and will resume regular service. The 36 Teresita, 37 Corbett, and 39 Coit routes continue to be provided by 40-foot buses and will operate under the revised service adjustments.

We’re conducting preventative maintenance service on our 30-foot bus fleet. As of Thursday, June 18, and until further notice service on the 36 Teresita, 37 Corbett, and 39 Coit routes will be provided by 40-foot buses which will require some route modifications as the longer buses may not be able to safely navigate some tight turns or narrower streets along their respective routes.

Expect longer waits and inconsistent service at these stops. Predictions for stops near the impacted areas may be unavailable or inaccurate due to the reroutes.

Muni will have personnel along the impacted segments during the morning and evening peak periods to help direct riders.

For some seniors and people with disabilities, walking farther to the nearest stop or paying for other transportation simply isn’t possible. For these riders, the Essential Trip Card provides two to three round trips by taxi and at 20% of the cost of a regular cab fare. The Essential Trip Card is accepted by all taxis in San Francisco.
