San Francisco Giant Race: September 8, 2019

The annual San Francisco Giant Race Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids Race & Family Relay will take place along the waterfront between Oracle Park and The Presidio. Streets will be closed and Muni will reroute around the race. Read below for more information.

Street Closures

Streets along the race route be temporarily closed to autombiles, some as early as Saturday evening for setup. Most streets will only be partially closed. Read below for details.

Muni Reroutes

Muni will reroute buses near the race route. Most of the reroutes are switchbacks in the North Beach and Russian Hill neighborhoods, changing direction before they reach the end of the line. These reroutes will start on Sunday at 5 a.m. until streets are clear. Read below for more information about each reroute.

E Embarcadero Switchback will start at Bay.
F Market & Wharves The streetcar will only be on Market Street, switching back at the Ferry Building.
A bus will serve stops on The Embarcardero between Fisherman's Wharf area and the Ferry Building.
N Judah Bus
Early Morning		 No stops on The Embarcadero.
Reroute will be along Mission, 2nd/3rd streets and Townsend.
T Third Bus
Early Morning		 No stops on The Embarcadero.
Reroute will be along Mission, 2nd/3rd streets and Townsend.
19 Polk Switchback will start at Bay.
Temporary layover will be at Polk & North Point. 
28 19th Ave Switchback will start at Chestnut.
30 Stockton To Van Ness & North Point: Reroute will be along Stockton, Union and Van Ness.
To The Marina (Jefferson Loop): Regular route, but two stops will be missed:
  • North Point & Polk
  • Van Ness & North Point.
39 Coit Switchback will start at Stockton.
The stop nearest to Pier 39 is North Point & Stockton.
47 Van Ness Switchback will start at Mason.
49 Van Ness/Mission Switchback will start at Chestnut.

Note 

Several other routes may experience delays near the race course. These are:

  • Powell-Hyde Cable Car
  • K/T Ingleside-Third St
  • N Judah
  • 43 Masonic

Please plan extra time for your trip.
