SFMTA offers convenient mobile options for paying at meter spaces throughout San Francisco—HotSpot and ParkMobile. These services let you pay for meters, receive reminders before your time expires, and extend your time remotely. A $0.35 convenience fee applies to mobile parking payments.
Choose the app that works for you and download it from the Pay To Park webpage. Please note that the SFMTA does not accept payments via QR codes for parking at any of the city’s parking meters.
How to Pay for Parking Using Your Phone
1. Launch the app and park as a guest or register for an account.
2. Enter the 8-digit location number, length of stay, and confirm all details. You may also be prompted to enter your license plate number.
• For all meters and paystations, the location number appears on a decal on both the front and back of the meter and on the screen.
• For blocks managed by pay-by-license-plate zones, the number appears on overhead signs adjacent to the paystation and along the street.
3. Enter your payment details and start your parking session.
When your parking transaction is complete, the app displays remaining time in real time, so you know when your parking expires. If needed, you may extend your parking session within posted time limits.
Other Ways to Pay for Parking
You can also pay via web browser or call a toll-free phone number. Or you can pay at the meter using coins or credit/debit cards.
