Green zones or short-term parking provide curb space for businesses or services where transactions usually take no more than 10 to 30 minutes to complete. Typical establishments that may qualify for a green zone are dry cleaners, florists, small neighborhood grocery/deli convenience stores, postal shipping centers, and banks or ATM locations. Typical effective hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, though some short-term parking hours may differ. In metered areas, short-term parking is indicated by either a green cap on the meter or green paint on the curb. In non-metered areas, short-term parking is indicated by green paint on the curb.
Vehicles that stay longer than the stated time limit are subject to citation and/or towing. Short-term parking is not for long term parking of any vehicle, including the applicant's vehicles.
Please contact us to assess your eligibility if you are unsure whether you qualify at ccp@sfmta.com.
Fees
A non-refundable application fee is required for short-term parking. The installation fee is due only if and when the application has been approved and should not be combined with the application fee. If approved, short-term parking is required to be renewed, with a renewal fee, every two years.
Government agencies providing public services, and non-profits that provide free services exclusively to seniors and people with disabilities are the only entities exempt from fees.
