Dreamforce Convention
Saturday, Sept. 5, through Sunday, Sept. 20: A street closure of Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets will be required for the Dreamforce Convention beginning at 6 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5 and continuing through 10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20.
Sunday, Sept. 13: Beginning at 10 p.m., the closure of eastern half of 4th Street between Mission and Folsom streets will be enforced.
Monday, Sept. 14 through Thursday, Sept. 17: During these dates, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., each day:
- NO traffic will be allowed on 4th Street between Mission and Howard streets, except Muni buses and shuttles
- Vehicle access to Howard Street between 5th and 4th streets and to 4th Street between Howard and Folsom streets will be via Howard Street at 5th Street
Tuesday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 17: The Salesforce Corporation will be holding its yearly Dreamforce Convention at the Moscone Center. Conference hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. An attendance of 45,000 is expected at Moscone Center North, South and West. Significant traffic congestion is anticipated in and around Moscone Center between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily for the duration of the closure, particularly on streets immediately east of 3rd Street. Additional congestion on 4th Street from Market Street and on Mission Street between 3rd and on 4th Streets is anticipated from early morning through the evening between Monday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 17. Travelers are encouraged to take public transportation or use alternate routes. There will be heavy pedestrian traffic in the area.
From Sunday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 20, Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.
There will be a signed bicycle detour for people on bikes on Howard Street to turn north at 2nd Street to Market Street. People on bikes who wish to stay on Howard Street will have the option to dismount at Howard and 3rd streets and walk their bicycle through the event along the north sidewalk.
Signage will be placed in advance of the street closures and detour routes.
Caltrans will activate electronic message signs on major freeways entering the city to notify motorists of the closures.
SFMTA Parking Control Officers and San Francisco Police Officers will be deployed at key intersections throughout the closures.
There will be no impact on Muni service.
There will be temporary taxi stands for pick up and drop off only:
- White Zone at W Hotel, north side of Howard Street between 3rd Street and Hawthorne Street
- White Zone at Intercontinental, north side of Howard Street at 5th Street
- Southside of Howard Street (westbound) between 4th and 5th streets
JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge
Thursday, Sept. 10: The annual JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge will take place from McCovey Cove to The Embarcadero between 7 and 8:30 p.m. For more event details, visit https://www.jpmorganchasecc.com/en/san-francisco.
The following street closure will be required on Wednesday, Sept. 9 during the specified time:
From 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Terry Francois Boulevard (southbound lanes) between 16th Street and Warriors Way
- Terry Francois Boulevard between Warriors Way and Mission Bay Boulevard South to Mission Rock Street
From 1 to 11 p.m.
- 16th Street (westbound lanes) between Terry Francois Boulevard and Illinois Street
From 6 to 9 p.m.
- Terry Francois Boulevard between Mission Bay Boulevard South and northernly terminus at San Francisco Bay Trail
- Mission Rock Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- 3rd Street (northbound lanes) between Mission Bay Boulevard North and Berry Street
- 3rd Street (northbound lanes no. 2, 3, and 4) between Berry and King streets
- 3rd Street (southbound lane no. 1) between Berry and Channel streets
- King Street (eastbound lanes) between 3rd Street and The Embarcadero
- The Embarcadero (northbound lanes) between King and Howard streets
From 6 to 11 p.m.

There will be minor reroute on Muni route 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express.
Event at Chase Center
Thursday, Sept. 10: Celebration after the JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge will take place at Chase Center. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m.
Muni will provide supplement 78X Arena Express service:
- Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
- Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center to 16th Street BART Station will run until the crowd clears.
Special Event Parking Rates
During basketball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $13 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on www.sfmta.com/special-event-parking.
Street Closures
To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.
Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
No Parking Zone
To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)
Taxi Stands
- There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.
- Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.
Other pickup/drop-off locations near Chase Center
- 4th Street, which connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.
- Owens Street, which also connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.

Chinatown Night Market
Friday, Sept. 11: The monthly night market will take place in Chinatown. This is an event that takes place on the second Friday of each month, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
The following street closures will be required from 1 to 11:59 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11:
- Grant Avenue between California and Pacific streets
- Waverly Plaza between Washington and Sacramento streets
- Commercial Street between Grant Avenue and Kearny Street
All other intersections will remain open.
There will be no impact on Muni service.
San Francisco Giants Games
Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 13:The San Francisco Giants will play three games at the ballpark. Listed below are times for these games:
- Three games against the San Diego Padres: a) 7:15 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11; b) 1:05 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12; and c) 4:20 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13.
Street Closures
To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:
- Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
- From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
- Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.
Taxi Stands
- 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
- 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
- 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street

Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival
Saturday, Sept. 12: The Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival will take place on Clement Street between 7th and 11th avenues, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday:
Clement Street between 7th and 11th avenues
- 9th Avenue between Clement Street and 50’ north of Clement Street
- Intersections closed: 8th, 9th and 10th avenues at Clement Street
There will be no impact on Muni Service.
Art Walk SF and Far Out Music Fest in Balboa Village
Saturday, Sept. 12: This family friendly community event will take place in the outer Richmond district, from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12. It is a free event organized by the Balboa Village Merchants Association to celebrate art, music, food and small businesses.
To facilitate this event, the following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12:
- Balboa Street between 35th and 38th avenues
- 37th Avenue between Anza and Balboa streets
The 18 46th Avenue and 31 Balboa Muni routes will be impacted during street closures.
River of Life Prayer Breakfast
Saturday, Sept. 12: The River of Life Church’s annual community prayer breakfast will take place from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A street closure of Sunnydale Avenue between Hahn and Sawyer streets will be required from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 8 Bayshore and 56 Rutland Muni routes will be impacted.
Tenderloin Community Benefit District (TLCBD) Block Party
Saturday, Sept 12: The TLCBD Block Party will take place in the Tenderloin community on Larkin Street between O’Farrell and Eddy streets, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Larkin Street between O’Farrell and Eddy streets will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday.
The 19 Polk Muni route will be impacted.
Fiesta de las Américas
Saturday, Sept 12: Calle 24 will host their annual Fiesta de las Américas street fair in the Mission District on 24th Street, with a smaller footprint this year. This is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates the rich cultures, arts, and music of the Americas with live performances, vendors, and community activities. Event hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more event details, visit www.calle24sf.org/fiestadelasamericas.
The following street closures will be required from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12:
- 24th Street between Treat and Alabama streets
- Harrison Street between 23rd and 25th streets
- Adjacent alleys within the boundary of the event
The 48 Qunitara-24th Street Muni route will be impacted.
CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES
UPDATE: Potrero Yard Modernization Project
Now until 2030: Muni’s Potrero Yard Modernization Project is replacing an obsolete, century-old bus yard at 2500 Mariposa Street with a modern, four-story bus maintenance and storage facility. Construction has now begun and will run through 2030. Work hours are between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overnight work is anticipated to be intermittent. Expect temporary lane shifts around the project site bounded by Mariposa, Bryant, 17th and Hampshire streets. Signage and cones will be in place to clearly mark and section off work zones. People traveling are advised to use caution and look out for changing traffic patterns. Temporary parking restrictions will be necessary in active work zones.
Thursday, Sept. 10 through Wednesday, Sept. 16: Road work and temporary lane shift on Hampshire Street between 17th and Mariposa streets and a portion of Hampshire Street between Mariposa and 18th streets for utility work. Work includes excavation and backfill to cover new underground utility boxes and trenches. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

UPDATE: Caltrans Project 04-1Q8204 US 101 Hospital Curve Pave and Median Contract
Friday, Sept. 18 through Monday, Sept. 21: Caltrans project will be fully closing Northbound US 101 between Cesar Chavez Street and 7th Street exit to perform concrete pavement replacement work. Northbound I-280 and Northbound Potrero are alternate routes during this work.
Friday, Oct. 2 through Monday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Oct. 19: Caltrans contractors will fully close Southbound US-101 between 9th Street/Civic Center exit and Cesar Chavez Street exit. Southbound I-280 via 6th Street and Southbound Potrero are alternate routes during this work. More details to follow.
Caltrans contractors will deploy traffic control personnel and message boards will be in place in advance of the closures. SFMTA Parking Control Officers will be assisting along critical points along detour routes to help facilitate traffic congestion. Motorists are advised to take other modes of transportation to travel in and out of San Francisco over these weekends. UPDATE: EA 04-2X7601 SR-35 Pavement Preservation Project
Week of Sept. 7 through Mid-October: Caltrans Pavement Preservation project will pave SR-35 Skyline Boulevard from Sloat Boulevard to the San Francisco/San Mateo County line. Work is projected to start from week of Sept. 7 and complete in mid-October. During work hours, one lane will be kept open in each direction. Caltrans project has revised work hours from what it shows on the project page. Current work hours for “Northbound” are from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays; and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays in the “Southbound” direction.

UPDATE: Caltrans I-80 San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge
Structural Steel Painting and Spall Repairs Project
Caltrans project is installing a temporary bridge installation platform (Safe Span) on the upper portion of the lower deck of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB). This work requires overnight staggered lane closures of eastbound I-80 from the San Francisco Anchorage/Rincon Hill to the Yerba Buena Island Tunnel, leaving at least one lane open for the traveling public. All lanes will reopen each morning. Lane closures will occur from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, most nights through Oct. 2026. The hours and number of lanes will adjust in response to late-night event traffic.
Listed below are schedules of lane reduction. Hours and number of lanes will be adjusted as needed in response to late-night event traffic:
- Lane 1 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Lanes 1 and 2 will be closed from 11 p.m to 7 a.m.
- Lanes 1, 2 and 3 will be closed from 12 to 6 a.m.
- Lanes 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be closed from 1 to 5 a.m.
- On Thursday nights Lane 4 will be closed at 2 a.m.

UPDATE: EA 04-0Q120 I-280 Farallones Street Pedestrian Overcrossing and Rehabilitation Project
Caltrans I-280 paving and pedestrian bridge replacement project contractor will be paving segments of the freeway. Caltrans will close two lanes in both the north and southbound direction between US-101 and the pedestrian bridge crossing at Farallones Street overnight and weekends. ONGOING: Improvements on Muni Service Changes Since Saturday Aug. 29
Since Saturday, Aug. 29, the SFMTA made targeted Muni service changes designed to improve reliability, provide more room for riders and support smoother service across the system.
The 1 California and N Judah now arrive more often. The 5R Fulton Rapid is operating with larger 60-foot buses where there is more capacity. The SFMTA is also adding capacity during busy times citywide.
Additional updates include a new one-seat ride from Visitacion Valley to Francisco Middle School for students who previously had to transfer from the 8AX Bayshore Express to get to school. The SFMTA also made schedule changes on the 22 Owl that make it more reliable.
These changes are based on rider feedback, operator input and service data.

Construction of the new elevator at Castro Station is wrapping up and once completed will provide continuous accessible access to the Castro Station. Until then, please continue to use the escalator on the north side for accessibility to the station.

San Francisco Public Works is managing three major construction projects taking place in Chinatown. For project updates, sign up for the San Francisco Public Works Construction Update Newsletters.
Drivers, Muni riders and visitors in and around construction zones should allow extra time when visiting the neighborhood.
Portsmouth Square Construction
The Portsmouth Square Improvement Project is a complete revitalization of Chinatown’s historic central plaza, located above the parking garage at 733 Kearny Street, which will remain open during construction. Major work began in summer 2026, with an expected completion in 2028.

Chinatown Public Health Center
As part of the construction for the Chinatown Public Health Center Renovation Project, significant traffic impacts in the Broadway Tunnels are anticipated.
The Broadway Tunnel is partially open at reduced capacity with one westbound lane and one eastbound lane. The Broadway Tunnel will remain partially open for approximately 14 months.
Please use other alternate routes as early as possible to reduce congestion in the construction area.

ONGOING: 13th Street Safety Project
Now until 2027: The 13th Street Safety Project is currently under construction to deliver new traffic safety improvements on 13th Street and Duboce Avenue between Folsom and Valencia streets, including protected bike lanes, sidewalk extensions, traffic signal upgrades, accessibility upgrades, sewer upgrades, repaving, and parking/loading changes.
San Francisco Public Works is installing curb ramps and traffic islands on 13th Street at the US-101 Highway Off-Ramp. The next phase of construction work is expected to result in delayed travel time when exiting the Mission Street/Duboce Avenue freeway off-ramp.
Construction is underway and will continue for approximately four weeks. The work hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). However, traffic control barricades and lane reductions will remain in place after hours until work is completed.
During construction, temporary lane reconfigurations will be delineated. Existing traffic flow shall be maintained for the through lane to Duboce Avenue and right turn lane to Mission Street. Muni riders should follow posted signage for any temporary bus stop relocations.

ONGOING: Transbay Howard Streetscape Project – Road Construction
Feb. 2026 through 2028: As a part of the Transbay Howard Streetscape Project, new safety upgrades, traffic signal infrastructure, landscaping and a protected two-way bicycle lane are being built on Howard Street between The Embarcadero and 4th Street.
Due to work at multiple sites, expect intermittent delays and lane closures on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers should exercise caution near construction zones, follow posted detour signage, and consider using alternate routes. During major events and conventions, work will be paused near Moscone Center.

ONGOING: SFPUC Geary Boulevard Sewer and Water Replacements
Now until 2027: Replacement work of sewer and water lines is currently taking place along Geary Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Due to construction work at multiple locations, some of the bus stops for Muni routes 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will be temporarily relocated nearby. Riders should look for orange signage at impacted bus stops.
UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION
Overnight Work Along the T-Third
Sept. to Oct. 2026: Building on the success of the T-Third Fix-It! Weekends. The SFMTA is launching a proactive maintenance program to improve conditions and cleanliness along the T-Third corridor between Evans and Sunnydale stations.
Maintenance activities are tentatively scheduled from Sept. through Oct. 2026. To minimize impacts on riders and the surrounding community, work will take place during overnight hours from midnight to 5 a.m. Owl service will not be affected, and access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the construction. Work at the Sunnydale platform is currently scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15.
As part of this effort, SFMTA crews will perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and facility improvements at T-Third platforms on Third Street between Evans and Sunnydale stations. This work supports the agency’s ongoing commitment to keeping Muni facilities clean, safe, and in good condition for riders and the surrounding community.
UPCOMING: Caltrans Project 04-0Q020 Bayshore and Central Viaduct Contract
Friday, Oct. 23 to Monday, Oct. 26: Caltrans will conduct a full closure of westbound I-80 between 4th Street and the US-101/I-80 interchange the weekend from Friday, Oct. 23 to Monday, Oct. 26. Detours and alternate routes will be established, signed and messaged. More details to follow.
