Committees and Hearings

The Accessible Parking Policy Advisory Committee reviewed and made recommendations regarding on-street accessible parking policies, including those governing disabled placards and blue zones. The group completed its recommendations in March 2013.

The Balboa Park Community Advisory Committee advises a number of public agencies making improvements to the Balboa Park Station area.

The Bicycle Advisory Committee meets to consider bicycle transportation projects and policies and to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, the SFMTA, the San Francisco Police Department and other San Francisco agencies.

The purpose of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) is to provide oversight to the SFMTA to ensure that bond proceeds are being spent on permitted purposes and to establish prudent internal controls and practices. The BOC consists of seven members and oversees the spending of bond proceeds and inform the Board and the public on status of the projects funded by debt.

The Citizens' Advisory Council is a 15-member advisory body to the SFMTA. The Council meets once a month on the first Thursday of the month where they hear presentations from SFMTA staff with respect to any matter within the jurisdiction of the Agency and provide recommendations on those matters to the Agency. Each member is appointed either by the Mayor or the Board of Supervisors.

Meetings of the Council are held at One South Van Ness on the 7th floor and are open to the public. At least 72 hours before a meeting, all materials for the upcoming meeting are available online or at the front desk of the 7th floor.

Public hearings are held once a month at City Hall to legislate the installation of new Color Curb Zones or make changes to existing ones. The zones usually recommended for this process are blue, green, white and yellow.

The purpose of traffic engineering hearings for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Sustainable Streets Division is for residents to express their concerns regarding the posted parking and traffic changes affecting their streets.

The Engineering, Maintenance & Safety Committee (EMSC) is made up of members from the Citizens' Advisory Council (CAC). On the fourth Wednesday of every month, the EMSC meets to hear presentations from SFMTA staff in regards to Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety within the SFMTA. They then take back recommendations to the full CAC meetings on those matters. Each member of the committee is appointed by the Chairman of the Citizens' Advisory Council.

The EMSC meets on the fourth Wednesday of Every month at 4pm at One South Van Ness on the 7th floor. Meetings are open to the public. At least 72 hours before a meeting, all materials for the upcoming meeting are available online or at the front desk of the 7th floor.

The Finance & Administration Committee is a committee of the Citizens' Advisory Council (CAC).

The Geary Community Advisory Committee consists of representatives who are residents or community members who travel in, to and through the Geary corridor. The purpose of the Geary CAC is to provide feedback, recommendations and advice to the SFMTA during design, construction and implementation of Geary corridor transit and safety improvements while providing a forum for the community to raise issues, discuss and have input on, and receive responses to these issues.
