COVID-19 Impact on Lost and Found
Due to the Shelter in Place order currently in effect, the Muni Lost and Found Department will be implementing the following adjustments:
- Lost and Found will be processed on a reduced schedule. Items will arrive at the lost and found office two to three business days from the time they are located, and it may take up to seven business days for you to be contacted.
- To minimize exposure, we will only return critical items such as phones, medication, wallets, keys, travel documents, identification documents, etc. during the shutdown. All other items may be picked up when the order is lifted and business resumes as usual.
- SFMTA's Customer Service Center is currently closed, and regular walk-up customers cannot be accommodated. Pick up hours are "by-appointment" only.

When a customer’s belongings are found on Muni, we do everything we can to return the items to their owner.
To Report Lost Items

- Submit a report online
If your item is located, you will be contacted within five (5) business days with further instructions on how/where to retrieve your belongings. Appropriate identification is required for the retrieval of lost items.
If you find an unattended item, give the item to the vehicle operator or the Muni Metro station agent when it is safe to do so (for example: when the vehicle has come to a complete stop).
