Downtown: Between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station
If you are at a stop on the J Church line Downtown, or you are travelling to a destination Downtown, you may be able to take another Muni Metro line, a Muni bus or BART to get where you need to go.
Muni Metro & Historic Streetcar Alternatives for the J Church Downtown
The K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View, and N Judah serve the same stops as the J Church between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station. For information on predicted arrivals, select the appropriate station and direction of travel:

The N Judah can take you all the way to 4th and King St, near the ballpark.
The F Market & Wharves, our historic streetcar line, serves Market Street stops between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station. The F also serves stops on The Embarcadero, including stops near the Ferry Building and Fisherman’s Wharf.
Muni Bus Alternatives for the J Church Downtown
The 7 Haight/Noriega runs between the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue and Salesforce Transit Center.
The 9R San Bruno Rapid runs between the intersection of Market Street and 11th Street and the intersection of Main Street and Market Street.
BART Alternatives for the J Church Downtown
BART serves the same subway stops as the J Church between Civic Center Station and Embarcadero Station. BART is a regional rapid transit service that can also take you to two Bay Area airports (SFO and OAK), and to cities to the south and east of San Francisco.
West of Van Ness Avenue: Between Balboa Park Station and Downtown
If you are at a stop on the J Church line west of Van Ness Avenue, or you are travelling to a destination west of Van Ness Avenue, you may be able to take another Muni Metro line, a Muni bus or BART to get where you need to go.
Rail Alternatives for the J Church West of Van Ness Station
Rail alternatives to the J Church include the K Ingleside, M Ocean View and BART. Like the J Church, the K Ingleside, M Ocean View and BART can all take you to Balboa Park BART Station.
Compared to the J Church, the K Ingleside and M Ocean View take significantly different paths to Balboa Park.
BART runs roughly parallel to the J Church along Mission Street while on route to Balboa Park. The 16th Street Mission and 24th Street Mission BART stations are located about a half mile west of Church Street stops on the J Church line.
Bus Alternatives for the J Church West of Van Ness Station
Bus alternatives to the J Church include the 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 35 Eureka, 49 Van Ness/Mission.
14 Mission + 14R Mission Rapid
The 14 Mission and 14R Mission Rapid run parallel to the J Church on Mission Street, between Mission St. & San Jose Ave. and Salesforce Transit Center.
You can connect to the 14 Mission and 14R Mission Rapid by taking one of the following buses. All of the following buses make stops along the normal J Church route:
35 Eureka
The 35 Eureka runs from Glen Park BART Station (Bosworth St & Diamond St) to Castro Station Westbound / Castro Station Eastbound.

The 49 Van Ness/Mission runs parallel to the J Church on Mission Street, between Ocean Ave/Balboa Park BART Station and Van Ness Station Westbound / Van Ness Station Eastbound.
You can connect to the 49 Van Ness/Mission by taking one of the following buses. All of the following buses make stops along the normal J Church route:
